it turn out that the question is not warped, but most of our understandings are. this is how it should be worked out, according to wan.

it is true that each fellow paid 9 bucks. making it a total of 27 bucks.

however, the 27 bucks they paid, is actually the $25 for the room, and also the $2 the bellboy took.

add the 27 buck to the 1 dollar each that they got back, 27+3=30, making it a full 30 bucks with no missing dollar. :) well done wan!!!

crazy us went to play futsal again ytd, 4 hours straight, from 7pm to 11pm man.there's a total of 5 teams, so each of us have to pay like 9 bucks only! so cheap compared to cage and ecp eH! we shall play there more often.. definitely.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLB OY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF $27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

ahh, this week has passed us by relatively quickly i must admit. and this week also brought about quite alot of positives. (:

its now 5 days to the trip with the tp soccer guys, am so looking forward to it.. and all the tedious ntu/nie admission/orientation stuff is also finally settled, putting my mind @ ease for the moment.. also managed to kick some balls with the genesis fc peeps @ e astro futsal court at tampines safra, i personally felt that its way more airy and fun as compared to the nike cage @ kallang and the ecp's. what's better was its relatively cheap pricing. only $5/pax for 2 hours, how cheap can it get? hhaa.

anw, lots of things to look forward this weekend too, with a bbq looming tonight, as well as the MDIS street soccer tourney. looks like fun ahead..

pre-university blues.

the admission stuff i have to do before i start school is driving me crazy man. so many forms to fill up and so many things to be done. the forms are kinda done, after half a day of filling up yesterday. alas. however, i still have to go down to cisco to have my civil servant picture taken, head down to ntu on the 18th july to register!

its such an irony, that i was eagerly awaiting the admission package to arrive, and not that i've received it, i kinda wished it didnt happen so soon. owells! and before school starts proper, my pocket will be $150 lesser already, having to pay for hall admissions, orientation packages and also health screening. bah. but i guess that amount of money is a small amount to pay for all the fun im gonna get during the 3D2N Bsc orientation camp and the 3D4N PE and sports science camp. the only worry im having now is the fact that my driving test is just the day after the PE and sports science camp, dont know if im able to take it physically and mentally. been worried whole week long man. just pray that i find a more suitable date for my driving test man!

its been raining whole morning, since 5 erawan said. but good thing this afternoon's match against the VJC alumni would be on a artificial turf, which means that its likely to be played in all weather conditions, except a thunderstorm la. so, looking forward to meet the guys later. yeah. oh, i wonder if you people have watched the movie "doomsday" before, i caught it on dvd early this morning and i think its pretty exciting and is quite a thriller. catch if if u have the time, there's always alluc.org or tudou.com for you to find "free" movies. haha. with that, wish genesis luck this afternoon ya.

i had a good run today man. not only that i managed to clock my 15km mark this week, i also made a new friend in "jeremy". i met this jeremy guy @ the fitness corner near white sands, and he was training for his ippt. he's an avid runner around e area too, but surprisingly, this is the first time we met each other. oh, and he told me i could start booking my ippt already, and that the window is opened. im seriously considering that idea.. i think im almost ready for my ippt, only station feared, being the sbj. its a whopping 400 bucks for the ippt gold award man. so rest assured i'll work hard to keep my gold record intact. haha..

10km in two days. i guess this is what its gonna be like for the next few weeks till school starts man. been procrastinating for so long, and now that my contract in compact has been extended, i guess the only time to do some exercising is after work, so, no more "lazy, dont feel like running" stuff already!

was doing despatch to the supreme court today and i thought i'd meet kozaw on the way. and so he went into the supreme court with me and im surprised how they didnt stop him in suspect of him being a terrorist, especially with his tinted poodle hair now. ha, anw was great meeting him, and he was like hardcore psychoing me to buy this pair of really nice soccer boots. if i had the money to spare, i'd buy man. keyword is "if". im offically happy poor now. haha.

anw, on the cab back, i dont know is "sway" or what la, the taxi driver happens to be a MLM-er. and hes more focused on selling me herbalife products than actually driving!! i have to like tell him, er, uncle, green light alr, can go alr.. wah... sian. and he was like really encouraging me to go for their seminar this sunday, say what, 700 pple going, then what people my age can earn 5k alr. hai, i dont know what to say, except, okay loh, good for them loh, but i want my friends, rather than money..

okay, the saga about cathy nguyen is still there, i still pretty much have to visit her site once in a while to ease that obsession. ha, anyway, in the process of youtube-ing, i managed to find another singer-songwriter who's pretty good, she's kina grannis, and she's been offered a recording contract alr. really envious of these people who can sing and all, music has never been much of my forte, though i did think of learning a guitar or drumming before. anw, check her out will you.

feeling sad @ this point of time as i m thinking about the work @ CAS tmr. hai, its really a boring boring job man. but @ least its only 1 more mth to go. genesis lost 2-1 today, despite being a very contested match-up. proud of the guys still la.

one thing i realised, my fitness not really there alr. no longer the three-lungs loy, more like the fatty aloy liao. haha, no more 8.32 for 2.4km, no more ippt gold. so i guess i've lots of work to do before school starts, man, just hope i eat lesser @ compact. (:

anw, met up with my buddy yx for pool and to slack before the soccer match, and i know he'd be happy to see this, i lost to him man. damn. haha. but its all good! fair competition la. and i went to the soccer match too, mum tagged along and i must say, i never knew she was this interested in soccer la. i remember how i had to bluff her im going for badminton cca when i was going for soccer. it was not until my teacher persuaded her to let me join soccer, before she relented. haha. anw, these days, she cant do anything about my soccer anymore. but i promised her i'll not hurt myself in the process also la.

sigh, the match ended 2-0 in saudi's favour, it was slack play as usual lar, looks like its goal 2014 now. but i applaud the lions la, @ least they made us believe for this short-lived period.

im currently obsessed over Jason Mraz again. not that i've found his songs only recently, but its just that his latest song, "I'm Yours" always seem to attract me, regarless of it being played in the radios, or being played in shopping malls, i'd always stop to listen to it. as such, its my blog song now. oh, i was telling yongxiang, its the making of a SSS (super sian saturday) again. its sad, but it sure seems that i've not been able to really relax ever since ORD. which is why the thailand trip in july will prove to be a much needed liberation for me. liberated from the world's problems, and my endless work. bah.

anyway its Angie's 21st at cafe del mar tonight, and i regret to say that im unable to make it. :( , i was informed a tad too late i guess, i've already confirmed with najib and the genesis guys that im going for the Saudi-Singapore match tonight. i'd really love to go to the party though, as i missed Cheryl's 21st as well. so its two 21st that i missed alr, and not to mention, the catching up with the 4e1 peeps. urgh.

dad's been rather stressed up due to some work problems. really f-up boss he has, i have to say, so i hope tonight's trip to the stadium could help him de-stress abit. thats the main reason why im going to the football match instead of the party man, hope dad becomes happier. :L

directions.
crossroads.

was on the way back home with yongxiang yesterday, and i was lamenting on how life in Singapore is pretty tough, young as we may be, we're often thrown with decisions to make and different directions to choose. decisions that changes your life. it sucks how education in Singapore is turning out to be this way, this stressful and stuff, and its such an irony that i'm going to be an educator myself. maybe i could change stuff in the future, i dont know.

i was also having some reservations on whether i made the right choice. albeit the thoughts, i believe im still sticking to my choice, though i won't be surprised if i decide to have a mid-career switch or something. right now, i just wanna do what i love to do, sports that is. and i believe the course i chosen has what it takes to bring out the best in me. and so, case closed i guess.

managed to speak to danielle about teaching as she's currently a trainee teacher in NIE as well. sure seems that she's having a great time and i really cant wait to join her. only thing bothering me is that freaking driving test date that is in the midst of school. im frantically trying to change the date.. though the last resort is to apply for unpaid leave/MC. however, i really dont wanna miss school so early in the semester, especially when many introductory lectures are being held. help me man! argh.

i went to run again, and i sincerely felt that it did help clear my mind a little bit, making it more clear why im choosing this path, cos i enjoy keeping fit, i enjoy exercising, though the laziness in me is chalking up, especially during long working hours @ compact. but trust me, i want to have the six pack too! just dont have the time. haha. i'll work doubly hard in school though, and roomie (ian), you better be ready too. the weather outside my house seems to be in the making of the perfect storm man. it'll be cold tonight. sleep well people. :)

sorry to disappoint you guys again!

but im so going to talk about soccer again!! its been such a huge part of my life, i sometimes wonder, which is more important, soccer or girls, and i often choose the former. haha RIGHT. BAHHH.

anyway, it was genesis match as usual again today. i look forward to sunday all the time these days, cos it'd mean that im able to meet up with the usual peeps, playing what we like best, soccer. you girls may think its stupid. like what 22 guys chasing 1 ball! but its fun la, fun @ its best, you all probably wont understand. haha.

i think im like on a sugar high, cos genesis just won an important game 7-0. i must say, as the VC of fc genesis, im damn proud of these fellas. just few years back, we're all individuals who dont know shit about each other, but out of a sudden, we're playing football with so much flow and stuff, i cant comprehend how it happened, but its fate i meet these guys, and they'll remain a huge part of my life in the near future, or even far future man! i will play soccer @ 60 if i can. no doubts about it. :)

it was yet another fun outing with the guys, namely spastic "charles", hilarious "najib" and lovable "alexander"... though the poor outcome in attendance, the genesis-ian still managed to have lotsa fun, simply by enjoying dinner, having a few games of pool, and also that "truth" session we had @ mac's..

money matters.

recently i've been troubled with money matters. frankly speaking, i havent been saving alot.. in fact, its almost im spending what im earning, except for some miscellenous stuff that i manage to pay every month like my bills and all. and some people around me, i have to admit, are really good money-savers.. in a way, their savings are so much more impressive as compared to mine. i think it must have been e way im brought up, im kinda spoilt, i do admit that fact.

so much such that, recently, even buying simple stuff that doesnt cost much, would make me think if i really really wanted or needed it or not, if not, i'll just walk off. i wasnt happy with life this way i think. its either i become a happy poor, or an unhappy rich. i've to decide...

let me tell you more about the decision @ the end of this posting..

lest the fact that i've to solve this myself, i decided to confide in my talk rubbish friend, jingwen.. and she really helped me decide what i want to do now.. or what im supposed to do now.. she used this analogy to help me decide;

A person would lead lives of a few animals.

In the first 20 years, you'll live like a human, with minimal worries, and negligible burdens.

For the next 10 years, you'll be living like a cow, slogging off to meet datelines and to carve out a career for yourself.

Then the subsequent 20 years, you'll live like a dog, having to watch over ur family and children, compareable to a job of a guarddog/watchdog..

For the "supposed" last years of your lives, you'll have to be like a monkey, you'll find urself acting like retards, doing stupid things to cheer your grandchildren up, making them happy.


As such, i just wanna live the last few months of my 20 years of age, like a human, if i have the means, i'll buy what i want, and be happy about it..

i guess that means, i wanna be a HAPPY POOR. and i've more or less decided on it.. (: thanks jingwen..

its tough having to manage ur soccer team's blog. and at the same time, make sure ur own personal blog is not being neglected. haha. but at least these days, the blogger bug is stuck with me, resulting in more frequent blog postings by me. its good right? no?

anw, this weekend was like total football. following the drinking session i told u about during the last post, i had a match on saturday @ 3pm. Lxnder and I went to play for the seniors @ east spring secondary school. i had quite a great game i felt, netting a goal and it was comfortable playing i'd say. but it was crappy la. i was sent off in e second half for what seemed like only a "yellow-card" offense. i realised it was my first red card ever. thank God we persevered and got the win. or else it wuld otherwise be stupid.

actually the red card really woke me up for quite a while and made me realised alot of changes about me. in the past, i was the kind of soccer players who would have all the 4-letter words spitted out of my mouth when provoked. and it was not until i served the National Service that i toned down alot i think. these days i rarely retaliate unless i felt it was really unjust. i guess we all do grow ya? but the red card really made me realise that the bad habit was still around. and as such, i shuld work towards getting rid of it. just like how manfred say " eh like that how to play for hall nxt time? sure fight. ".. i think so la. haha.

today was yet another soccer session.. it was with FC Genesis thought, my usual club. i did well enough to score yet another goal, that makes "scoring in 8 straight matches", but we kinda lost it towards the end yet again.. and this is our second lost this year.. in 13 matches. kinda upset about it initially, but it was not difficult to get the team upbeat and raring to go for the next match again. i felt being the vice-captain of the team was really and enjoying experience. in jc, i didnt do well enuf to have deserved that vc position, though i was still good enuf to be in the ex-co. however, in genesis, i feel really proud to be leading this fellas out to matches. cos i know we'd be fighting till the end. "genesis will never stop fighting till the final whistle is blown" remains to be the message, from 1st min, to the last. i love u guys even when we lose man, thats for sure. i hope this team is here to stay.. 4 years and counting.

its gonna be yet another long week ahead, another five-day week that is. but i reckoned i better start saving money this month, for i still gotta pay for driving when i start mid-june! i just hope life gets better man! after JUNE, when school starts in JULY. so looking forward to it. cos i'd be staying in the hall with so many of my friends/seniors. gotta be fun la.

to you there in the states. i wanna say, its weird how i still dreamt of you. but it was sweet. and shortlived. take care over there!
